"The recession has been especially severe in the areas ORCCA serves, resulting in an unemployment rate that is almost 200% of the national unemployment rate, specifically impacting poor families with children," said Mary Schoen-Clark, CEO Oregon Coast Community Action.

ORCCA (Oregon Coast Community Action) is a nonprofit network providing emergency services and programs to feed, house, warm, and educate people on the southern Oregon Coast. The recession has been especially severe in the areas ORCCA serves, resulting in an unemployment rate that is almost 200% of the national unemployment rate, specifically impacting poor families with children.

To address these issues, ORCAA is expanding services in the South Oregon Coast by building a community campus, including a 31,500 square foot child and family resource center building to provide services such as: basic head start, youth training classes, and summer day camp; health, dental, and developmental screenings; nutritious meals; and literacy, employability, and parenting workshops.

Craft3 provided a $3.4 million loan for this project which will afford 14,000 people per year access to services that will stabilize their households and which they couldn’t afford otherwise. It will also provide seven full-time and 175 construction jobs.
