BackHome ADU Loans

 

Craft3 is the exclusive financing partner of BackHome ADU, a nonprofit dedicated to confronting the affordable housing crisis, one backyard at a time. Recognizing the shortage of affordable housing, BackHome ADU created a new comprehensive program. Through this program, homeowners in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties can receive subsidized financing for ADU construction. Homeowners who participate in this program agree to rent their completed ADU to tenants who earn no more than 80% of area median income for at least 8 years.

Homeowners work with BackHome ADU and their approved building partners to develop a project. In addition to modular homes, BackHome ADU allows for site-built or customized ADUs if that is what your property requires. Craft3 takes care of the financing and BackHome ADU supports all other steps in the process—not only design, but also turnkey construction and delivery, as well as property management.

**Homeowners must be participants of BackHome ADU to receive a BackHome ADU Loan. BackHome ADU loan amount not to exceed $175,000.
Loan availability, terms and conditions current as of 08/31/22 and are subject to change. One percent origination fee of loan amount and appraisal costs apply. Property insurance required. Flood insurance may be required. All loan applications are subject to credit, property, and project approval. Examples and APR includes the approximate cost of prepaid finance charges, including a $1,300 origination fee and third-party costs of $700. Actual APRs for individual loans may differ.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

BackHome ADU Loans are available for:

  • Residential properties in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties, Oregon
  • Owner-occupied, single family residences or residences housing a direct family member of the property owner
NOTE: You must agree for 8 years to rent the completed ADU to a tenant (including a family member or friend) who earns no more than 80% of area median income.

PROCESS

CONNECT WITH BACKHOME ADU

Complete their online application form. BackHome ADU will then conduct a site evaluation, schedule consultations with their builder partner, and connect you with the Craft3 ADU team.
