Northwest Beneficials

Seeing Northwest Beneficials' demonstrated revenue and customer growth, Craft3 provided a Business Loan to support continued growth.
For more than 50 years, Holly Ford’s family has worked with ladybugs. Her parents passed on a strong entrepreneurial spirit, solid work ethic and love of natural pest control to their children. And now as an adult, Holly has learned the ins-and-outs of collecting and selling beneficial bugs alongside her mother and father.

Looking back on the family experience she had as a child, Holly and her husband wanted to provide that same environment for their growing family. So they made a proposal to her parents – open a family business.

Together, they created Northwest Beneficials to specialize in the wholesale production, packaging and distribution of natural pest control options – bugs! – to retail garden centers and nurseries, selling primarily ladybugs, praying mantises and beneficial nematodes.
Since Northwest Beneficials opened in 2011, it has struggled to obtain financing. With so few companies specializing in beneficial bugs, traditional lenders found it difficult to make an industry comparison.

Despite this obstacle, Northwest Beneficials has managed to expand its customer base from 50 to over 500 retailers. Seeing the company’s demonstrated revenue and customer growth, Craft3 provided a loan for working capital to support continued growth of this environmentally conscious small business.

So, the next time you find an aphid on your tomatoes, give natural pest control a try with beneficial bugs at
