In 2013, Raj Vable founded Young Mountain Tea with the goal of selling sustainably-grown teas and creating a more prosperous future for farmers in the Himalayas. Based in Springfield, Oregon, Young Mountain Tea works with a network of 850 farmers across five regions of India and Nepal.

"The aim is to reinvent the Indian tea industry, historically structured around an estate model, and support small-scale tea farms that emphasize quality over quantity and are often farmer-owned.

Young Mountain Tea’s products and its social mission proved popular. As the company experienced success, it needed a creative solution to finance accounts receivable and inventory. This financing would enable Young Mountain Tea to grow their business by supporting new purchase orders with large wholesale customers. Olympia Community Solar wanted to help Thurgood Marshall Middle School transition to clean energy and lower its utility bills. A Craft3 bridge loan provided the funds upfront to install the solar project. Not only did this provide an environmentally friendly solution, but also it reduced the neighborhood’s energy burdens, allowing the school and residents to reinvest in their buildings, education, and students.
