In Astoria, Oregon, the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is building a new 26,000-square-foot medical and dental clinic that will offer nearly 19,000 patient visits annually. Backed by Craft3 and partners through a $16 million New Markets Tax Credit investment, this project will expand access to vital healthcare services and create 65 full-time jobs — demonstrating how mission-driven partnerships can improve health outcomes for rural families.
In the rural community of Astoria, Oregon, where access to comprehensive healthcare has long been a challenge, a transformative project is taking shape that will serve thousands of residents across the region.
The Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) is building a 26,000 square-foot medical and dental clinic that will provide a full range of primary health care and specialty health care services including general practice medical, dental, pharmacy, lab, WIC/nutrition services, community health services, and integrated behavioral health services.
Craft3 is proud to have participated in this $16 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) investment supporting the construction of a new clinic by the YVFWC. This Federally Qualified Health Center will serve not just Astoria's 10,000 residents, but also surrounding cities and counties, providing an estimated 18,900 annual visits.
The project represents the power of strategic partnerships. Craft3 served as an intermediary Community Development Entity, working alongside EcoTrust, which contributed $10 million in NMTC allocation, and Wells Fargo Bank, which passed through $6 million in NMTC allocation to Craft3. This partnership shows how community development finance can bridge gaps in rural healthcare access.
This new YVFWC clinic is more than a healthcare facility — it will be a lifeline for rural Oregon families. The clinic will be located in a census tract in which the poverty rate is 26.9% and the median household income in surrounding Clatsop Country is $57,466. The YVFWC expects that of the patients the clinic will serve:
The construction of this new facility will result in the creation and retention of 65 full-time jobs, including Health Care Providers, Care Coordinators, Outreach Personnel and Administrative Staff, with an average salary of $84,714.
For Craft3, this project exemplifies our commitment to supporting low-to-moderate income communities through strategic investments in healthcare and education. The Astoria clinic stands as proof that when experienced partners come together with shared values, we can create lasting change in communities that need it most.
